Your Role as Immigration Attorney:
As an Immigration Attorney at Dalal and Mehta Law, you will be the legal anchor of our team, planning, leading, directing, and overseeing all aspects of the production team, in collaboration with the CEO/Owner. You will have complete oversight and responsibility for the entire legal support team. This role will provide direct supervision and guidance to all direct reports.

 
Key Responsibilities:
 
🔹 Team Supervision & Performance Management
- Paralegal Task Completion Rate: Ensure that 100% of assigned legal and administrative tasks are completed on time.
- Case File Accuracy: Maintain an error-free submission rate of at least 98% for all filings prepared by paralegals.
- Workflow Compliance: Ensure paralegals follow firm-established case preparation procedures 100% of the time.
- Productivity Monitoring: Conduct weekly reviews to ensure all paralegals meet efficiency benchmarks (e.g., number of applications, motions, or filings processed per week).
- Performance Evaluations: Conduct quarterly performance reviews and provide feedback to paralegals
 
🔹 Training & Onboarding of New Hires
- Onboarding Completion Time: Ensure that all new hires complete onboarding and training within 30 days of joining.
- Process Adherence: Ensure all new hires demonstrate full understanding of the firm's case preparation process within their first 30-60 days.
- Training Sessions Conducted: Host at least one structured training session per month on legal procedures, case management, or best practices.
- Paralegal Retention Rate: Maintain a high retention rate (above 85%) through effective training and leadership.
 
🔹 Case Oversight & Quality Control
- Spot Check Accuracy: Conduct random audits on at least 10% of active case files each month to ensure compliance, accuracy, and completeness.
- Legal Work Compliance: Ensure all cases meet firm and legal standards, reducing the rate of Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and denials by at least 10% annually.
- Timely Case Filing: Ensure that 100% of cases are filed ahead of deadlines, with no missed submission dates.
- Error Rate in Casework: Reduce the error rate in case filings and legal documents to less than 2% per quarter.
 
🔹 Administrative Oversight & Process Improvement
- Case Management System Utilization: Ensure all paralegals consistently update case statuses and documentation in the firm’s case management software (e.g., Lawmatics, Clio).
- Workflow Optimization: Identify and implement at least two process improvements per year to enhance efficiency in case preparation and administrative workflows.
- Administrative Compliance: Ensure that all firm policies and procedures are followed 100% of the time, including billing, document management, and correspondence tracking.
- Meeting Coordination: Conduct weekly team meetings to ensure alignment on case status, deadlines, and procedural updates.
 
🔹 Report Generation & Data Analytics
- Monthly Paralegal Performance Report: Generate a detailed report on paralegal productivity, task completion rates, and accuracy.
- Case Status Report: Provide a bi-weekly summary of all active cases, including pending actions, deadlines, and risks.
- Error & Compliance Report: Document and analyze trends in case errors and compliance issues, recommending corrective actions.
- Quarterly/Yearly Firm Efficiency Report: Present leadership with a report on key performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
 
🔹 Client & Attorney Support
- Attorney Case Preparedness: Ensure attorneys have all necessary case files and documentation prepared at least 48 hours before hearings or client meetings.
- Client Satisfaction Score: Maintain an average client satisfaction rating of at least 90% based on feedback surveys.
- Response Time to Client & Attorney Inquiries: Ensure all client and attorney inquiries related to paralegal work are responded to within 24 hours.
 
🔹 Leadership & Development
- Team Morale & Engagement: Conduct quarterly one-on-one check-ins with each paralegal to address concerns, provide mentorship, and enhance team engagement.
- Professional Development: Identify and enroll at least one paralegal per quarter in an external training or continuing education program.
- Conflict Resolution: Successfully mediate and resolve at least 90% of internal team conflicts without escalation.

 
What You Need to Succeed:
 
✔Key Competencies:
- Clear and Professional Writing– Strong English writing skills to draft and review case documents accurately.
- Tech-Savvy– Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable navigating legal case management software, preferably Docketwise. Plus, knowledgeable and experienced in USCIS online portal and EOIR Case Access System (ECAS) portal.
- Detail-Oriented– Meticulous attention to detail to ensure case accuracy and compliance.
- Positive and Client-Focused Attitude– Friendly, patient, and dedicated to providing excellent customer service.
- Exceptional Multitasking Abilities– Able to efficiently manage a caseload of 40+ cases while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
- Thrives in Fast-Paced Environments– Adaptable and proactive when working under deadlines and shifting priorities.
 
✔Qualifications:
- Law Degree (JD) from an Accredited University.
- 3+ years’ experience as a current U.S. Immigration Attorney.
- Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.
- Good standing by the New Jersey Bar Association and/or local bar if different from NJ.
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
❇ While not essential, verbal fluency in Hindi / Punjabi will be highly regarded.
